New Year Goals

blank_gold_frame1

I’m not one for New Years resolutions as such – like a lot of people i don’t see the point of making big changes just because it’s the New Year. If you want to do something badly enough then just do it anyway right?

The problem is that most people resolve to do things they don’t actually want to do but think they should, mainly giving stuff up (drinking, swearing, big macs etc) yawn. I won’t set resolutions but i have been thinking about goals – positive changes or things i want to do or achieve in 2014. This is them.

1, Chill the f*ck out a bit more. I read of heard the mantra ‘everybody is fed and nobody is dead’ somewhere and it has stayed with me. As an daily objective it is much more achievable and means you you can end the day ‘feeling’ like you are winning.

2, Reclaim a bit of my old life. Now the baby mostly (shouldn’t be saying this!) sleeps through the night and is happy enough to be palmed off on various family members it would be good to have the odd night away. We can go do foolish things while they go any annoy someone else ;)

3, Channel my creative energies (i.e do a bit of drawing or something). I did an art course in printing last month and it was so relaxing to have something to focus my mind on outside of the kids/home. This blog is also a fantastic outlet for that and i hope i am still here this time next year.

4, Go on a great holiday. F starts school in September (yikes) so from now until then is the last time we can enjoy off peak travel prices. I have no idea what we will be able to afford when we are paying 3 x the going rate and the baby requires his own plane seat. So yeh, a blow out holiday before the little buggers get too big.

5, I don’t really have a 5 but at the same time i need to do lists in 5’s or 10’s so eeek. Oh, try to refrain from being OCD about unimportant things (oops). Um be nicer to the cat, or should that be nicer to the husband? Ok – be nicer to the cat and the husband!

Happy New Year! :)

Happy New Year! I’ve not gone in for resolutions as such either and January is frankly a masochistic time for going into a serious bout of denial, but general plans of campaign for the year I can get behind. I like the sound of your printmaking course, that’s definitely my kind of New Years non-resolution!

Happy New Year! I’m pretty pants with resolutions as if I want to do something, I’m a seize the moment type person rather than waiting for a significant milestone. You read my post – I want a home filled with laughter in 2014. How hard can that be to achieve? Oh, and I also want to be a better cook – my cooking currently induces vomiting and yes, the occasional laugh. Love the idea of a creative course – I’m rubbish when it comes to being creative but would love to find something.

Great ideas – happy new year! I have too many resolutions to list – but spending more time on myself and my interests is key. Things like regular showers and makeup!

My resolutions are much like yours, mainly little life goals like getting out without the kids now and again or just brushing my hair and that… Love the mantra as well – I will use that for my life! xxxx

Happy new year! I am so jealous of your no.2 (now that sounds weird!) our baby is still up and down and we either have distant between our parents or ones who don’t want to look after our boisterous boys – their loss – Happy new year :-) x

I love the first one! I think most of the time I worry for the hell of worrying. I really need to take a step back sometimes and just chill out. I definitely agree with the holiday idea. I’m thinking a couple of mini breaks and one biggish one maybe! The hubby thinks a day trip. Hmmmmm!

I am never going to forget this quote now! Thanks SO much for sharing. It’s exactly what I needed to read this morning (between bleary eyes) as I’m sat amongst much chaos and mess trying to cram in some work whilst my little girl is at nursery.

Also, as for going away now your baby sleeps through the night…GO FOR IT! All knackered parents, especially Mums, deserve a break once in a while. Will do you the world of good.

Good plan to get out there and have some away date-nights! Reclaim that bit of you, it’s so re-energising! Great list, especially n.5. I don’t much go in for new year’s resolutions either, I prefer to do them on my birthday, although this year may be different. Go you with your goals! And thanks for linking up to #AllAboutYou link & Pin party
